How to make a donation and help our charity
As a charity, the War Memorial Village Derby operates on a non-profit basis. Our only income is generated by the rents of the properties. As the village is now 70 years old, the overall aim of the Trustees is to completely re-develop the village with modern, fit for purpose properties and provision of maintained communal gardens where appropriate. The cost of achieving this will be in the order of £4,000,000. This is in addition to the circa £1,000,000 already allocated by the Trustees to phase 1, the building of 9 new bungalows. Contributions and donations will also impact on the charity's ability to award welfare grants for those in need and with potential to contribute to supporting various activities for the residents.
Your charity donation is vital to help us achieve this goal. From a one-off contribution to a monthly donation or even a bequest in your will, it will enable us to provide an affordable home for and support those who have fought for our country, and protected our country, our freedom and way of life over the last 60 years.
The Trustee's are all unpaid volunteers and therefore you can be sure that all donations contribute directly to the lives and wellbeing of the residents. One of the Trustees' declared aims is to provide all white goods for all new properties and where appropriate and necessary communal gardens, to relieve the burden of maintaining gardens which the charity will undertake.
For example, a memorial bench – which will be installed in one of the new communal gardens – costs £1,000.
We would like to provide, with your help, several more.
Every aspect of life is covered. From ensuring timely delivery of necessary adaptations to our properties to ensuring the outside spaces are maintained and welcoming.
